Alabama Crime Victims Compensation Commission
State program that reimburses innocent victims of violent crime for crime related costs not covered by another source, such as medical and dental care, counseling, work loss, rehabilitation, and funeral expenses. Pain and suffering, stolen property, and property damage are not covered.
Who it is for
Victims of violent crime in Alabama, and in some cases their dependents or surviving family members, who reported the crime to law enforcement and have eligible unreimbursed losses.

How to apply
- Report the crime to the proper law enforcement agency within 72 hours of the incident, or be prepared to submit good cause in writing for a late report.
- Obtain and complete the ACVCC application form from the official website or from a local District Attorney's victim service officer.
- Submit the completed application to ACVCC by email to info@acvcc.alabama.gov, by fax to 334-290-4455, or by mail to Alabama Crime Victims Compensation Commission, P.O. Box 231267, Montgomery, AL 36123-1267.
- Call the Commission at 1-800-541-9388 with questions about eligibility or claim status.
Deadline: A claim must be filed within one year of the incident, or good cause for a late filing must be submitted in writing. The crime must have been reported to law enforcement within 72 hours, or good cause submitted in writing. (Fixed deadline)
