Hawaii Crime Victim Compensation Commission
The Crime Victim Compensation Commission provides financial compensation to victims of certain crimes, surviving family members of a deceased victim, and private citizens injured while preventing a crime or apprehending a criminal. Covered costs can include medical and mental health treatment and lost wages.

How to apply
- Report the crime to law enforcement without undue delay.
- Download the application from the Commission website or contact the Commission to request one.
- Complete the signed application form, medical authorization form, and employment authorization form if claiming lost wages.
- Submit the application with supporting documentation such as bills, receipts, and medical records to the Commission.
- Call (808) 587-1143 with questions about a claim.
Deadline: Submit the application within 18 months of the crime date. Applications may be accepted after 18 months with a good cause letter from a physician or therapist. (Fixed deadline)
