Maryland Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting (CPS)

Maryland's Child Protective Services responds to reports of suspected child abuse or neglect. Anyone who suspects a child is being abused or neglected can call the statewide line 1-800-917-7383 (1-800-91-PREVENT) or 911, or report to the local department of social services in the jurisdiction where the abuse is believed to have happened. Reporters do not need proof, only a reasonable suspicion. Health care practitioners, educators, human service workers, and law enforcement officers are mandated reporters and must report both orally and in writing.
