Maine Victims' Compensation Program
State program that reimburses victims of violent crime and their families for out-of-pocket losses not covered by insurance or other sources, such as medical and counseling expenses, lost wages, funeral costs, and crime scene cleanup. It is administered by the Criminal Division of the Maine Attorney General's Office and funded in part through the federal Victims of Crime Act (VOCA).
