Missouri Crime Victims' Compensation Program
State program that helps pay crime-related expenses for people who suffered physical or psychological injury from a violent crime, and for the dependents of someone killed by crime. It is a payor of last resort, meaning it pays after insurance and other sources. It can help with medical and counseling costs, lost wages, funeral expenses, and loss of support, up to a maximum of $25,000 (funeral expenses are capped at $5,000 and lost wages at $400 per week).

- Report the crime to law enforcement.
- Get the Crime Victims' Compensation application from the Department of Public Safety website or by calling the program.
- Complete the application and submit it with supporting documents (such as police reports and bills) to the Crime Victims' Compensation Program.

Deadline: The application must be filed within two years of the crime date, or within two years of discovery of the crime.
