North Dakota Crime Victims Compensation Program (ND Crime Victims Compensation)
North Dakota's state crime victim compensation program helps victims of violent crime and their families with out-of-pocket costs such as reasonable medical and mental health treatment and prescribed medication, wage loss, replacement services, funeral expenses, and a dependent's economic loss. Property loss is not covered, and the program is a payer of last resort after insurance and other sources. Who it is for
Victims of violent crime in North Dakota, including domestic violence, sexual assault, and child abuse, as well as victims of drunk driving and hit-and-run, and surviving family members. The crime must be reported to law enforcement and you must cooperate with reasonable requests of law enforcement.

How to apply
- Report the crime to law enforcement within 96 hours (four days) of the crime or its discovery, which is required for eligibility.
- Gather documentation of your crime-related expenses, such as medical bills, counseling records, and proof of lost wages.
- Complete the application online through the ND Apps Portal at https://portalapps.nd.gov/docr/cvc-application/.
- Ask a local victim advocate or your county victim/witness coordinator to help you prepare and submit the claim at no cost.
- Call the program at 701-328-6195 or toll free at 1-800-445-2322, or email DOCRcompensation@nd.gov, with questions about eligibility or your claim.
