Nebraska Crime Victim's Reparations Program
State crime victim compensation program for innocent victims of crime who suffer bodily harm and incur financial loss as a direct result of a criminal act. It reimburses eligible expenses such as medical costs, lost wages while under a doctor's care, mental health counseling related to the crime, funeral expenses, crime scene cleanup, and grave markers. It does not cover property loss or pain and suffering. Funded through the federal Victims of Crime Act (VOCA), state funds, and a share of inmate wages.

Victims of crime in Nebraska who suffered physical injury and financial loss, including parents or guardians of minor victims, dependents of homicide victims, and people injured while aiding a victim or a police officer.

How to apply
- Report the crime to law enforcement, generally within three days, and cooperate with the investigation and prosecution.
- Complete the Crime Victim's Reparations claim application available on the Nebraska Crime Commission website.
- Submit the application with supporting documentation by email to ncc.cvr@nebraska.gov or by mail to Nebraska Crime Commission, 301 Centennial Mall South, P.O. Box 94946, Lincoln, NE 68509-4946.
- Call the program at 402-471-2828 with questions about eligibility or the claim process.
Deadline: A claim must generally be filed within two years of the date of the incident. Confirm current deadlines and any exceptions with the program before relying on this. (Fixed deadline)
Amount: Maximum award is $25,000 per incident. Sublimits apply, including up to $10,000 for funeral expenses and up to $5,000 each for counseling and crime scene cleanup.
