Wyoming Crime Victim Compensation Program (CVC)
Wyoming's crime victim compensation program, administered by the Attorney General's Division of Victim Services. It assists innocent victims and their families when they have no other means of paying for the financial cost of crime. Reported covered costs include medical and dental expenses, mental health treatment or counseling, lost wages or income, loss of support, burial and funeral expenses, relocation or moving expenses, mileage reimbursement, and articles taken as evidence. The program is funded through fines and penalties imposed on offenders, not through tax dollars.
Who it is for
Innocent victims of crime in Wyoming, and the families and dependents of victims who died or were disabled as a result of a crime, including survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, child abuse, and trafficking who have crime-related costs not covered by other sources.

To apply, contact a victim service provider local to you. The Division of Victim Services maintains a statewide list of providers who help victims complete and submit the application. You can also contact the Division directly.
How to apply
- Report the crime to law enforcement, unless good cause is established for not reporting.
- Contact a local victim service provider, listed on the Division of Victim Services site, to help you apply.
- Complete the compensation application and include bills, receipts, and documentation of your crime-related costs.
- Submit the application through your local provider or to the Division of Victim Services.
- Call the Division at 307-777-7200 or toll-free 888-996-8816 with questions.
Deadline: Under Wyoming law, an application is generally filed with the division within one year after the date of the injury to or death of the victim, or within any extension the division allows for good cause shown.
